Join the Allah Valley Landscape Development Alliance's (AVLDA) Tourism Circuit Sites Photography Contest 2012! 
Falls no. 2, the Grandest of the 7 Falls in Lake Sebu

AVLDA, a multi-stakeholder group comprised of representatives from the Province of South Cotabato ( Municipalities of Lake Sebu, T'boli, Surallah, Sto. Nino, Banga, and Norala) and the Province of Sultan Kudarat (City of Tacurong, and the Municipalities of Isulan, Esperanzam Lambayong and Bagumbayan), plus five national government agencies and one NGO coalition, is organizing the contest in time for the T'nalak Festival 2012 of South Cotabato this July, 2012!

Amateur and professional Photographers from all over the country are invited to join. 
A photography tour to the tourism sites will be conducted as part of the contest which will cover the Eco-Cultural Tourism Wonders of Allah Valley Landscape. The sites include Lake Sebu’s 7 falls, Zipline, 3 Lakes, Tacurong Baras Bird Sanctuary, Sepaka River/Tasiman Falls, Traankini Falls, Surallah’s Tri-people monument/roundabout, Kematu Mining site,  School of Living Traditions,  SK Capitol building and Mt Matutum.  Mt. Parker and Lake Holon in its caldera are provisional destinations.

Official Contest Rules and Mechanics
I. Entry Fee
An entry fee of P1,000 will be collected from the contestants. This is inclusive of basic overnight accommodation, meals and snacks for the duration of the photo tour and transportation to the sites.
II. Contest organizer
The photo competition is organized by the Allah Valley Landscape Development Alliance (AVLDA) as part of the promotion of its Eco-Cultural Tourism Project undertaken with assistance from the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The event is also in collaboration with the Alliance of Culture and Arts, Tourism Officers and Sports Coordinators of South Cotabato (ACTS-SC) as the event Secretariat and the Department of Tourism – Region 12 (DOT-12).

The awards shall be as follows:
1st Prize –P8, 000 + plaque + certificate of winning
2nd Prize –P5, 000 + certificateof winning
3rd prize – P3, 000 + certificate of winning
10 consolation prizes of 500 each
V. How to Join
Interested photographers are advised to express their intention to participate in the contest by first “Liking” AVLDA’sfacebook page at and send their (i) Complete Name, (ii) Place of Origin, (iii) Email Address and contact number/s, (iv) Photography Club (if any) and (v) brief description of self through FB Personal Message. 
A formal event entry form will be sent after the event organizer confirms the participant’s intent via AVLDA Facebook page.

Number of contestants will be limited to 30 only and accommodation will be on a first-come-first-served basis.  This is an open competition. 
VI. Content Requirements
a.       Photo Submissions must not contain obscenity, explicit sexual material, nudity, profanity, graphic violence, calls or incitement to violence, commercial solicitation or commercial promotion. Submissions also must not contain content or images that could be considered abusive, defamatory, denigrating, or disrespectful to the Contest Sponsor, or to groups, individuals or institutions.
.      Retouching of Photos: The submitted contest photograph cannot be significantly retouched and/or painted over. Nothing in the photographs may be altered, removed, augmented or rearranged.
c.       Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure e.g. multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed.
d.      Digital retouching on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping may be tolerated, although major manipulation of main images through adding or subtracting and even burning and dodging are not allowed.
e.      The following technical format requirements must be followed – Submission should be in .jpg, .gif, or .png format and no larger than a ten (10) megapixel (mg) file size.
f.        The submission should be at least 72 dots per inch (dpi). Submissions should not have any visible watermarks, signatures, or personally identifiable information.
g.       Submitted Photos depicting the beauty of Allah Valley Landscape shall only be of its key eco-tourism sites or the sites included in AVLDA’s eco-tourism circuit.
h.      Eco-Tourism sites that will be visited during the photo tour includes: Lake Sebu’s 7 falls, Zipline, 3 Lakes, Tacurong Baras Bird Sanctuary, Sepaka River/Tasiman Falls, Traankini Falls, Surallah’s Tri-people monument/roundabout, Kematu Mining site,  School of Living Traditions,  SK Capitol building and Mt Matutum.  Mt. V. Eligibility
The contest is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
Photos must be taken during the competition period 7-8 July 2012.
Participants may use any digital camera. (Entries will be printed by the contest sponsor in full colour photo paper in 8R size (8 inches x 10 inches).
The School of Living Traditions
Each contestant will be required to sign and return to the AVLDA an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release.
Each contestant shall provide a brief statement/caption about their entry photo; otherwise they will be ineligible to compete for the grand prize.
The following individuals are not eligible to join the Contest: AVLDA Eco-Tourism Core LED team, staff of AVLDA-Project Management Office (PMO), the Contest Sponsors, members of AVLDA’s Technical Working Group, staff and officers of LGSP-LED. The immediate family members (defined as spouse, recognized partner, parent, child, sibling and spouse or "step" of each) and those living in the same households of each such individual are not also eligible to join.
Each contestant must submit at least one photograph of each site that will be visited and from that selection he/she shall select three entries for judging in the contest.
Submissions must be on the afternoon of July 8, 2012, the second day of the tour. AVLDA-PMO and LGSP staff will facilitate the submission, collection and filing of the entries.
Winning Photo entries will be used for, but not limited to, the production of Eco-Tourism Circuit Package Brochures / Information Materials and Website of AVLDA.
Photographers of the used photos will be properlycredited in the publication materials.
All entries, including the required photographs for each site, will automatically become property of AVLDA.
VII. Selection of Winners:  
The contestants’ entries (3 photos each) will be posted on the AVLDA Facebook page for judging (“Liking”)by online audiences.
Hard copies of the finalists’ entries shall be exhibited in designated display areas (i.e. Ace Centerpoint and Gaisano Mall Koronadal) for manual voting and guided set of online voting by the public.
The total number of “Likes” in photos uploaded in Facebook combined with the likes gathered in guided voting shall determine the points for the photos. The same thing shall be considered for the number of manual votes that will be gathered for each photo.
The online and manual votes shall comprise 40% of the total score of each entry.
The remaining 60% of the scores shall be from the verdict of the judges.
Judging will be through:
Audience Participation / Social Media - (40%)
Judges’ Decision – (60%)
For the Judges, the criteria for judging the photos are:
1. Creativity – 30%
2. Effectiveness – 30%
3. Photographic Quality - 40%
Online voting will close on July 14 midnight. Judging will be held on July 15 and posting of winning entries shall be in the afternoon of the same day.
All photos will be screened by the Contest secretariat to ensure compliance with these Official Contest Rules and Mechanics. AVLDA reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to verify in the final analysis whether a potential finalist or potential winning Photo Submission has fully complied with these Rules and Mechanics.
An independent set of judges comprised of AVLDA and LGSP officers, Contest Sponsors and Professional Photographers will evaluate the submissions to choose one grand prize winner, two runner-ups and ten entries to receive consolation prizes.
The winning entries will be displayed in the same exhibit locations (i.e Ace Centerpoint and Gaisano Grand Koronadal) for the period of three days starting July 16 to 18.
AVLDA reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to verify that a potential finalist or winner is in full compliance with these official contest rules before the contestant is recognized as a finalist or winner, and before awarding any prize.
The difficulty of AVLDA to contact a potential finalist or winner may result in disqualification and/or selection of an alternate finalist or winner from among all remaining eligible submissions.
In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a re-judging between the tied entries alone. In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the entry with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner.
Decisions of the judges are final and binding.
 Winners shall be notified via text message, Facebook message or email.
Contest Organizer and sponsors are not liable in the event that any portion of the Contest is cancelled due to weather, fire, strike, acts of war or terrorism, or any other condition beyond their control.  
VIII. Awarding
Formal announcement and awarding of prizes shall be on 18 July during the T’nalak Festival Culmination.
